PLDA Announces Innovative vDMA Engine IP Solution

PLDA, the industry leader in PCI Express® IP solutions, today announced two innovative DMA engine solutions for managing large heterogeneous data traffic across PCIe links or across AMBA AXI fabric solutions. PLDA's new IP products are an ingenious, streamlined solution that delivers high-end performance and is easy to integrate into design planning.

With the advent of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automotive and IoT technologies, data traffic has exploded and has driven the development of new system-on-a-chip (SoC) architectures. These architectures allow system developers to build high-performance applications that can receive and process large amounts of heterogeneous data. To take advantage of these architectures, some SoCs integrate a large number of processing units, so an scalable solution is needed to move data across computing units or across PCIe interface host platforms. To meet these needs, PLDA has successfully developed a high-performance DMA engine in two versions: as a stand-alone vDMA engine IP with AMBA-AXI interconnect interface or as PCIe 5.0 IP control with integrated vDMA engine Device.

PLDA vDMA-AXI:

This stand-alone vDMA-AXI IP product is the ideal centralized AMBA AXI DMA for SOC, which integrates a large number of processing units and therefore requires a scalable solution to move data across multiple computing units. vDMA-AXI is especially suitable for applications in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and automotive, offering:

• Up to 2048 DMA channels

• Up to 512 virtual machines or domains

• AMBA AXI3/4 interface with 256-bit or 512-bit data path

• Up to 128 outstanding read and write requests

PLDA XpressRICH5-AXI:

Featuring a built-in vDMA engine, this PCIe 5.0 controller IP is designed for applications that require maximum performance and flexibility to move data across virtualized or non-virtualized host platforms across PCIe interfaces. XpressRICH5-AXI with vDMA is ideal for cloud computing, HPC, AI, machine learning, storage and networking applications. In addition to the features outlined in the stand-alone vDMA engine, XpressRICH5-AXI also offers:

• Support x16, x8, x4, x2, x1 at PCIe Gen5, Gen4, Gen3, Gen2 and Gen1 speeds

• Compliant with PCI-SIG Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) specification

• Support for endpoint, root and dual mode configuration

• Support for up to 32 physical functions (PF) and 512 virtual functions (VF)
